From January 2012, all international and domestic students (with the exception of Graduate Certificate students) will be required to write an English Placement Test on arrival in Centennial college. The purpose of the test is to determine what level of English the student should be placed. This is not an admissions test; it is merely a placement test.

There are four possible levels that a student can score; 099, 131, 161 and 171. These are levels, not scores. Most Post Secondary programs start with level 161 and all Fast-Track’s start with level 171. If a student is placed in a level lower than the starting English course due to their test results, they will be required to take an extra English course along with the corresponding tuition payment. Those that attain the lowest level of 099 will have an option to take a Foundations program. It is not anticipated that students who score 6.0 bands overall will score as low as level 099 but the possibility does exist.

The Government of Canada has designated ICCRC as the new regulatory body for immigration consultants to replace CSIC.

There have been some important changes to the way immigration consultants are regulated in Canada. The Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism announced that the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC) is the new regulatory body for immigration consultants.

Being also a CSIC member, Mr. Pranay Shah (CEO, Winny Immigration .Services) is now a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant and recognized as an authorized representative by Citizenship and Immigration Canada. He is the only authorized representative in all over western India.

 Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has announced changes that will be made to Canada’s federal immigration program effective July 1, 2011. To qualify for the Federal Skilled Worker Program, applicants must have at least one year of paid work experience in one of the 29 eligible occupations. CIC has just announced that the list of 29 eligible occupations will remain the same for the coming 12 months; however, fewer applications will be accepted for processing. As of July 1, 2011, only 500 applications will be accepted for processing per occupation and only 10,000 applications will be considered in total for the coming 12 months. The aspirants holding degree and diploma as well as people with good work experience would be accepted on priority basis.
